Perimeter Foundation Repair

erimeter Foundations are the portion of your home that the exterior walls of the house is built on. Most often, they consist of a concrete footer 18"-24" below ground, varies in width and thickness, and has a short masonry or poured concrete wall. Perimeter foundations must be designed and constructed properly to ensure that the load (weight) of your home, its contents, and your family, are properly supported.

Many factors can affect your perimeter foundation's health. Please click here to read about these factors and how to recognize them. If you have determined that you have a problem, we can help you determine which perimeter foundation repair solution is correct for your homes foundation.

Underpinning with Helical Piers

Underpinning with Helical Piers

Helical piers are long piers that are screwed into the ground. The helix head digs into rock or load bearing soil to provide bearing support. Once installed, the top of the piers are cut and are braced to steel brackets that are attached to your homes foundation to provide the support.

Usually the installation process is relatively clean and quick. The job can be completed in a few days for a multiple pier job.

injection grouting of concrete decking

Pressure Grouting

Pressure Grouting is the direct pressure injection of a fluid grout into the ground to fill voids or displace soft soils. Grouting can improve the strength of the ground to support your homes foundation.

Pressure Grouting can also be used to fill sinkholes, stabilize granular soils, and fill trash pits.

Injection methods and materials vary based on soil types. Contact the pressure grouting experts at Barrier to learn more.

Foundation support with micropile and underpinning

Underpinning with Micropiles

Micro-piles are small diameter friction piles. Each pile, usually steel, is drilled into the ground and then "locked" in place, usually with cement grout. Micro-piles can be installed quickly in almost every type of soil.

After the piers are installed, brackets are attached to the slab and the pier to provide the required foundation support.

Resistance pier leveling concrete slab foundation

Push Piers/ Resistance Piers

These are piers that are installed by first attaching a bracket to a structure, and then driving or "pushing" the pier through the bracket into the ground for support.

Although simple in concept, great care must be taken when using this technique. Because your home is providing the resisting force against the pile being pushed into the ground, a pier can hit rock and "push back" lifting your home or breaking off a piece of your foundation.
